MCV Green Affairs focuses on making MCV campus at VCU and the Richmond community greener through service and education. This student-led organization welcome students, faculty, and staff, from all schools and disciplines, both medical and academic from either campus, as well as Richmond community members to help us pursue our goals of educational outreach, increased recycling access, improved sustainable practices and policies at VCU, and community outreach. Electronics Recycling on Monroe Park Campus Friday April 6th

Have old cell phones? Computers? A pile up of drained batteries?

We will be collecting all unwanted electronics that you may have.
(Exceptions include incandescent light bulbs and very large e-waste such as refrigerators.)

Let your friends know we are recycling hazardous electronic waste! We'll see you this Friday, April 6th at the sidewalk between Student Commons and Cabell Library.

NOW ALSO COLLECTING UNWANTED T-SHIRTS! These will be up-cycled into reusable shopping bags for this years Earth Day celebration - a Student and Community Market!

We will be taking other hard-to-recycle items:
-#5 plastic containers (clean/rinsed)
-Corks
-Personal care products packaging (lipstick cases, mascara tubes, eye shadow cases, shampoo bottles, etc. Not accepted: hair spray cans, nail polish bottles and nail polish remover bottles. For a full list click here:

Electronics Recycling on Monroe Park Campus

Stop by our table in the VCU Student Commons to recycle your personal electronics and keep the harmful chemicals they contain out of the landfill. We'll also have sustainability info to share, including how to get curbside recycling pick-up.

New! We will be accepting some non-electronic items for recycling/repurposing:
  • #5 plastic containers (clean/rinsed)

1st Green Unity "U-Block" Street Clean-Up

Show some love for the VCU and Richmond community by coming to our first street clean up of the semester! Green Unity has already adopted the 100 block of South Pine Street, so help us maintain its beauty by coming out and offering yo HANDS for a couple hours!

You can earn volunteer hours for class and for the goodness of your heart!

Please meet at 1:50pm outside of Mojo's (corner of Cary & Laurel, behind GRC), wear good walking shoes that you don't mind getting rough in & bring your own durable gloves if you have any!

Snacks will be provided, but try to BYO H2O Bottle

E[lectronics]-Cycling Drive!

Help Green Unity 4 VCU keep toxic old electronics from filling landfills and destroying the environment by donating YOUR OLD ELECTRONICS to us----because we will dispose of them appropriately and ethically!

We accept basically everything! Broken! Misused! Unneeded! Rejected!
-Computers, printers, video game consoles, ipods, radios, surge protectors, batteries, light bulbs, tv's, monitors, clocks, microwaves, printer cartridges, ANYTHING & EVERYTHING!

Just come by our table in the Commons across from the new Pizza Hut to donate! We'll also try to answer any questions you may have and we'd be happy to talk to you about the importance of e-cycling and what will happen to your products once you've dropped them off.
